Milton Matthews
(My Bortha)

Milton started at the age of 17, when he was attending Crane High School. Every since than he's be in all types of trouble. From selling drugs to hanging with the wrong people. And I feel that every since he went to Crane, that’s when the trouble came to his atten
tion. But I feel that it has to do something with my fathers’ death and him going to a school where he would be attracted to the wrong things. Milton is not a bad person. It’s just what he chose to do made him a teenage inmate (at the time).Remind you that he’s 26 years old now. And I feel that by him having a lot of skills with in him, such as drawing and playing basketball, he could’ve have succeed in life. But he is still caught up in the fast life. When Milton was 17 years old, he was more into the fast money and kicking it with his people. So that went on for a while, until it started catching up with him.

So the first time it was him getting picked up by the police and being dropped off to the house. Then it went from being locked up in the County for a couple of days and months and having a court date behind it, to being locked up in prison for a couple of years or maybe a year and some months. Then wound up for the last time. (That’s too much movement to me.)

I truly believe that our fathers’ death has changed him because he died when my Bortha was 9 yrs old and when I was 2. And by him being so young and going to a high school where the kids was either getting locked up or being on the streets on their way being locked up. But you can’t fault, but then you can because he knows what he’s doing to get where he was, but then again he has had a missing part in his life as well.
Thatz It Thatz All.

Why

I chose to reflected on this particular subject because my brother started doing the wrong things such as sell drugs, hangin in the streets and being around the wrong people , when he was a teenager. So I feel like that I should have talked and write about it. And I wanted to learn more about "Why do teenagers do what they do, to end up in prison?". So it just caught my attention, and I never heard any one talk about it.And this topic is really the first to be talked about.
Thats it thats all basically.....................

My Thought About "Teenage Inmates"

What I know:
Well, I already know that teenagers today reasons for being inmates are stealing, gang banging, fighting, etc. Also, they see things that come from their homes from certain family members. What I mean by that is, if a certain family member is a abusive person, that teenager, may see it as if since he/she is doing it and not getting in trouble for its action, that teenager would see it as if he/she is doing it, then I could do it.
Now, some teenagers like this young fella (LEFT) have been charged of assaulting another teenager. Now I know that he has seen that within his home. Now when you think about it, those are the basics of why teenagers get locked up. But on the other had some teenagers that’s in prison, are in their from someone else. Not every teenager does wrong that like s to hang in the streets. They make bad mistakes for what they did. But in teenagers mind in today’s world, they would put it on any and every body but them.

Sometimes some teenagers are force into things they don’t want to do, and after awhile their mind would feed into it till where it changes their whole personality.See and when the actually get where they don’t want to be at. They look scared and afraid like this young fella (RIGHT). See every teenager be tough on the streets bout when they get behind bars they soft. But I also know that its mainly teenage African American males that’s in prison. But its not only the males that have gotten into trouble. It’s the females as well. Even though the females today are doing the same thing as the males, but some females are doing it more than the males.
I want to know:
I want to know do the teenage inmates learn from their mistakes. And when they get out do they still do what they do, or they make a new start. And do they actually think bout what they’ve done and what they could’ve done instead of doing what the did. I also want to know, how many teenagers actually gets locked up for what the court say they have done. And I actually want to know how does prison life feel to them if that’s there first time. Cause some teenagers think its nothing. But I know its something.

That’s it that’s all .
